Follow the smart money

What will a smart investor invest in now?

No, it is not bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It is property, a real asset that you can touch and feel.

Recently, Hammerson, a property investment and development company, announced that it is buying a rival company, Intu, in a £3.2 billion deal. The combined company will become the largest property group in the UK, owning many landmark malls like the Bullring in Birmingham.

Then last week, the largest commercial property company in Europe, Unibail-Rodamco, is buying Westfield Corporation, who owns the landmark Westfield shopping centres.

This year, many property related investments, including real estate investment trusts (REITs), was lagging in performance compared to other assets. Many institutions and professional investors are finding the current valuations attractive. They have started buying. The current flurry of deals is just the beginning.

Smart investors should follow the smart money. The smart money is going into these real assets.

But you may think that you can’t buy the whole shopping mall like these institutional investors. Wrong.

The Reyker Real Asset Strategy (RAS) portfolios invest in real asset linked investments. These include REITs and investment trusts in infrastructures and similar real assets. Some of these investments are trading at a discount to their net asset values. The attractive valuations mean it is a great time to start investing in these assets, especially if you are looking build up your wealth over a period of 5 years or longer.

You can find more details about the Reyker RAS model portfolios on our website here. The model portfolios are available for both ISA and SIPP investments. Our investment team is more than happy to talk to you more about these portfolios. You can drop us an email at investments@reyker.com, or call us at 020 7397 2597.
